The Y-Me board visited with Dr. Macleod and members of her lab (Niamh and Kate) working to understand and target metastatic breast cancer with a focus on the role of NIX in promoting epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), an early critical step in the metastatic cascade, and also on how a drug coming out of a screen as modulating mitochondrial mass acts to limit tumor cell growth.
